Sebi said that beginning May, the standard warning shall be displayed as, “Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. Read all scheme-related documents carefully”The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on Thursday standardized the warning statement for audio-visual advertisement for mutual funds. The regulator had earlier said that all such disclaimers must be played for at least five seconds after the airing of such an advertisement to explain risks associated with equity investments.
Citing non-adherence by several fund houses, Sebi said that beginning May, the standard warning shall be displayed as, “Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. Read all scheme-related documents carefully”, along with voice-over reiteration.

This is a good thing. In fact this line should be sufficient for all print ads also. Today, two thirds of any mf ad is the statutory warning, which no one understands. If insurance merely says that it is the subject matter of 'solicitation' (like another old profession), this one liner should be more than adequate for the mf industry
