Deutsche Bank's mutual fund arm, Deutsche Asset Management today launched DWS Global Agribusiness Offshore fund, which is a feeder fund for its global fund that focuses on agri-sector.
The offshore fund, which is an open ended overseas fund of funds scheme, will invest in the units of overseas mutual funds, focusing on the agriculture and affiliated sectors, Deutsche Asset Management's CEO, Suresh Soni told reporters here.
"Not only does this offer investors the opportunity to diversify their investments beyond the local market but the global scope and the wide array of sectors that the fund could invest in," Soni said.
The fund intends to invest in the entire spectrum of business related to food production -- from planting to the distribution and sales of the end product, he said.
The DWS Global agribusiness fund was launched in 2006 and has a size of $2.5-billion, Soni said.
The fund will open for subscription today and closes on April 30, 2010. The minimum investment amount of the scheme is Rs 5,000.
DWS investments is the mutual fund management division of Deutsche Asset Management and globally manages assets of approximately euro 496 billion as on December, 2009.
